What Do Tom and Jack the Ripper Have in Common?

June 4th, 2010 by Katie received Comments Off

Brick Lane!
Like most things in London, Brick Lane has a long history. The street was once the location of several purported Jack the Ripper murders. Today it’s known for its heavily Bengali population (street signs are in English and Bengali), its nightclubs, and its graffiti. The street has been used in music videos, including one by The Killers, because of the graffiti. Tom’s latest movie, according to Simon Frank, was filmed in Brick Lane yesterday:

nightshoot down Brick Lane. Incredible performances. Mad atmos.

He’s lucky he was able to shoot there: in 2007, a film about a book of the same name as the street was mostly banned from filming there.
Tom said in an earlier interview that he has never been to a club before. Perhaps that’s changed?
Also, someone has made a Facebook page for the movie, which you can ‘like’ here if you wish. So far they only have four people who like it.
As we reported yesterday, if you want real-time updates, you should follow the film’s writer here on Twitter.
