Author Wants Tom for Film Adaptation of Book
July 9th, 2010 by Katie received Comments OffRemember a while ago, when we told you that an author chose Tom as part of her dream cast for a movie based on her Arthurian Legend book?
Well, once again, Tom is a popular man in the minds of authors. Anissa Damom, who wrote a vampire/werewolf novel (the synopsis and cover art of which is eerily similar to another vampire/werewolf novel) would like Tom to play the character of Christian. My Spanish is not particularly good, but I believe that Christian is an undead vampire teen who meets a regular, live, human girl.
Hm.
Thoughts?
The quote from the interview is after the jump!
Fantasymundo: Would you like to see ‘Exodus’ on the big screen? Which actors do you think are ideal for the parts? Would you be afraid that the movie would not have the essence of the novel, or do you think that the two very different projects?
Anissa B. Damom: I would love [for the book to become a movie], but I am conscious that that is something which would be tremendously difficult. The concept of a movie is incredible and to be able to see your characters in flesh and blood has to leave you [as an author] breathless. Ideal actors…I would prefer that Christian and Lena were unknowns, although I like a lot of the expressions of Tom Sturridge for Christian. But if I had the ability to choose, I would not doubt for a second putting in Rachel Hurd Wood as Lisange. For Liam, recently I had the opportunity to see Xavier Samuel in person and I believe that he has an air which really seemed like that of the boy in my imagination.
As for the essence, I, myself, am conscious that they cannot be 100% faithful to the book, but I believe that the modifications that are done to adapt a book to a film can also be very interesting. It is what makes them two different things and is why you can enjoy them separately. It is a way to enrich the story. But clearly, I would feel fear. When all is said and done, you are leaving your story in the hands of other people.
