Biography
BIO:
Tom Sturridge is the oldest son of director Charles Sturridge and actress Phoebe Nicholls. He was born in London in December of 1985. His parents “actively discouraged” their children from acting, although Tom was cast alongside his mother in his father’s television version of Gulliver’s Travels. Tom has said that growing up, he never thought he would be an actor. Tom left school during his last year without graduating and, shortly thereafter, he was introduced to his favorite movie director through a friend’s parents. The director later cast him in his first big role, as Roger Gosselyn in Being Julia. Since Being Julia, Tom has had parts in Vanity Fair, Like Minds, and, most recently, The Boat That Rocked. His latest film, Waiting for Forever has yet to be released, and he is rumored to be starring in the movie, Maestro, which is currently in pre-production. In 2009, Tom made his theatrical debut at the Lyric Hammersmith in the play “Punk Rock.”
